Job Description
Reporting to the VP, Global Quality the role’s primary objective is to develop and measure all Quality Assurance programs and processes in an effort to ensure that Spin Master meets and/or exceeds worldwide safety regulatory requirements, deliver maximum product reliability, and fulfill customer expectations for all product lines. The candidate will be key contributor to the Toronto Quality Team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and implement product specifications prior to production that meet worldwide safety regulatory requirements as well as client quality expectations which involves:

a) Review and approve design changes, and product breadboard/concepts for safety and quality compliance b) In a timely and efficient manner, monitor the progress of product design to ensure the engineering model adheres to quality & safety requirements

c) Ensure that product quality and safety requirements have been assessed through focus group testing

d) Ensure testing and inspection methodology meets and is consistent with product specification guidelines in the Orient as well as in North America

e) Conduct periodic audits throughout product development cycle to measure consistency in quality and safety; ensure levels of product recall and defective returns are at zero and minimum respectively

• Collaborate with recognized international testing laboratories in setting up test protocols that meet and/or exceed retailer requirements

• Liaise with worldwide bodies (CPSC, Health Canada, etc) in resolving regulatory disputes; coordinate recall activities promptly and effectively

• Develop systems and processes to quantify and reduce the "cost of quality" (re-works, scrap ,defective returns, replacements cots, etc)

• Develop, implement, and monitor continuous quality improvement programs directly correlated to retailer and end consumer complaints; ensure 100% corrective action implementation within 60 days

• Plan and allocate departmental resources in an effective and pro-active manner

Requirements
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

NOTE: Offers of employment to international candidates are contingent upon satisfying Canadian immigration requirements.

• Minimum 15 years relevant experience (Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing disciplines are preferred), 5 of which at the management level, combined with direct exposure to ISO 9000

• Experience within the consumer packaged goods industry (juvenile products preferred) combined with a Bachelors of Engineering or related

• Superior analytical, project management, communication, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to think outside the box

• Intermediate level hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

• Track record of career progression along with a proven ability to work in a fast paced, ever changing, and hands-on environment

• Open to extensive travel
