MIT Medical seeks a medical technologist to join a CAP (College of American Pathologists)-accredited clinical laboratory. Responsibilities include performing a variety of laboratory tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, and serology; performing phlebotomy on adult and pediatric patients; meeting established quality control standards; troubleshooting and resolving instrument problems; utilizing the Sunquest laboratory information system for data entry and the performance of testing; performing both stat and routine testing in an accurate and timely manner; assisting the department supervisor in the development of new methods and evaluating cost feasibility; training new employees in department procedures and policies and training students from local clinical laboratory degree programs; working with fellow staff members to analyze workflow processes and conduct QI audits; participating in proficiency testing; and receiving and processing a variety of specimens.
Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or related field.
Board certification as a medical laboratory scientist (ASCP or NCA).
At least two years' experience in a recognized hospital or clinical laboratory.
Excellent judgment, interpersonal/communication, computer, troubleshooting, organization, and prioritization skills.
