Maine Medical Center, a MaineHealth member, is seeking a Research Education and Compliance Officer in Scarborough. The Research Education and Compliance Officer is responsible for providing compliance oversight of Maine Medical Center’s Research Programs by ensuring that the conduct of all research is done according to federal, state and institutional policies.
Bachelor’s degree in health sciences discipline, Master’s preferred.
Must possess the appropriate scientific knowledge and/or clinical skills and experience to conduct monitoring and auditing of clinical trials.
Previous teaching and quality assurance improvement background preferred.
Proficient in data collection programs.
Must possess interpersonal skills that promote cooperation and collaboration.
Ability to organize resources to meet regulatory and accreditation goals.
Perform routine on-site reviews for studies that have been approved by the Maine Medical Center IRB.
Conduct directed (for-cause), routine and targeted audits of research records at the request of the IRB or Institutional Official.
Recommend action to the IRB, based upon routine reviews, onsite observations, researcher feedback and directed audits.
Provide ongoing training and education to the research community.
Provide Investigators and research staff with quality improvement tools, recommendations, new federal requirements and guidance information to ensure that research is conducted in accordance with good clinical practice guidelines.
Investigate, follow up and develop corrective action plans (if applicable) for any allegation and finding of non-compliance.
