Black Hawk County Health Department is seeking a full-time Public Health Regional Preparedness Coordinator. This position is primarily responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating SSA-6B (sub-service area) Preparedness Partnership activities for an eight county region and serving as the primary point of contact and the liaison to the ESF-8 lead agency and EOCs during an emergency. Other duties include:
•Providing consultation and technical assistance to local service area partners, throughout an eight county region. •Assist in the planning, development, implementation and quality assurance review for regional planning and program renewal funding application. •Coordination of regional service area activities with local partners to assure Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) contractual and federal grant standards and objectives are met. •Collaboration with IDPH staff to negotiate service area work plan responsibilities.
A qualified candidate must have the ability to plan work, think conceptually, and collaborate with others; observe and evaluate data to draw logical conclusions to make sound recommendations; present and relay information to different audiences including the Black Hawk County Board of Health and community and professional groups. A qualified candidate must have a BA degree in Public Health, Public Affairs, Public Safety, or other related field; excellent written and oral communication skills; obtain core NIMS/Incident Command training within 6 months of hire date; and possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Experience with emergency response systems is preferred.
