The National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) is seeking qualified individuals to join a team of dynamic leaders and staff who are passionate about the NBOME’s mission of protecting the public. The Vice President for Clinical Skills Testing (VP CST) leads and directs the development, administration and staff of the National Center for Clinical Skills Testing, the COMLEX-USA Level 2-Performance Evaluation (Level 2-PE) and client clinical skills examinations and studies and develops emerging technologies and innovations in clinical skills testing. The VP CST serves as a key member of the NBOME executive leadership team and a staff member of the Level 2 PE Advisory Committee. Job responsibilities include supervising the CST leadership team, providing oversight of the case development process, physician examiner program, research agenda and standard-setting activities, and approving examination forms. This role is also responsible for communicating with internal and external stakeholders, including the NBOME Board, the Advisory Committee, deans and other medical school staff, national and international medical education and assessment professionals, and state medical licensing boards. Responsibilities: •Directly supervise CST directors and leadership and report on examination issues to Level 2 PE Advisory Committee. Supervise or coordinate development and maintenance of candidate orientation materials.
•Working with the Level 2 PE Advisory Committee, plan and evaluate the COMLEX-USA Level 2-PE examination. Provide the Level 2 PE Advisory Chair with meeting planning, materials and support, and liaise with COMLEX Composite Examination Committee to implement approved policy.
•With assistance from the Chief Physician Trainer and Director for OMM Assessment, supervise training of SOAP Note and OMT physician examiners including training sessions, examiner feedback and quality assurance. Recruit, review and approve physician examiner applications and reimbursement.
•Supervise activities for client clinical skills assessments and oral examinations (e.g. National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners APMLE Part II CSPE)
•Review and accept examination psychometric reports and scoring. Assist candidates and schools with inquiries regarding score reports. Work with psychometric and research staff, and consultants on analysis and reporting of psychometric results and standard setting process.
•With assistance from the Vice President for Finance/CFO, manage the budget for the Clinical Skills Testing department, approving expenditures, reviewing reports and preparing annual budget.
•Liaison to osteopathic medical school deans’ offices regarding COMLEX-USA Level 2-PE, including assisting VP for Administration/COO and Senior Director for IT as well as Client Service Representatives with issues related to school page of registration system and candidate registration management.
•Provide direction and collaboration for scholarly activities, initiate research proposals and present at national and international professional meetings as appropriate (e.g., AACOM, Ottawa Conference, etc.)
•Actively participate in NBOME leadership activities including the executive leadership team, Executive Committee, Board of Directors, Research Forum, National Faculty Conclave, and the COMLEX-USA Composite Examination Committee, as well as other task forces/committees requested by supervisor or leadership.
•3-5 years of experience with responsibility for leadership of clinical skills testing program preferred, other high-stakes testing experience including committee work and item-writing considered
•Experience in higher education as a faculty member (e.g., course director) or administrator (e.g., associate dean or department chair) and/or medical regulation or licensure (state medical boards) •Board certification, osteopathic preferred; active state medical license required
•Proficient in MS Office; Embraces technology and champions technological advancement
•Strong interpersonal, presentation and written communications skills
