Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, is seeking clinical faculty candidates for the position of Prenatal Genetic Counselor in the Division of Medical Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Candidates must have a master’s degree in Human Genetics/Genetic Counseling from an approved training program and be ABGC/ABMG Board Certified/Board Eligible. This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE). Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated team player with excellent organizational and communication skills to join an expanding Medical Genetics Division. The Division currently consists of two clinical geneticists, seven genetic counselors, a clinical nurse, a metabolic dietician, a PhD basic scientist, and a PhD molecular/cytogeneticist. Prenatal genetic services are provided in conjunction with faculty from the Maternal Fetal Medicine Division of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health at the Maternal & Fetal Care Center at SSM St. Mary's Hospital and the Fetal Care Institute at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. Services offered include chorionic villus sampling, amniocentesis, non-invasive prenatal testing, sequential screening, multiple marker screening, genetic carrier and diagnostic testing and diagnostic ultrasound.
Candidates must have a master’s degree in Human Genetics/Genetic Counseling from an approved training program and be ABGC/ABMG Board Certified/Board Eligible. This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE). Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
The primary responsibility of this position is providing prenatal and preconception genetic counseling to a diverse population in the Maternal & Fetal Care Center at SSM St. Mary's Hospital, a tertiary prenatal center serving high risk prenatal patients. There are additional opportunities for prenatal genetic counseling and case management at satellite clinics and via telemedicine in the region. This is a faculty position through the Saint Louis University School of Medicine and genetic counselors are actively involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, fellows and allied health professionals. Opportunities to participate in clinical research with other Division members exist.
