The Department of Leadership and Professional Studies, College of Arts, Science and Education at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for two positions:
1) a nine-month, full-time, Assistant/Associate/Full Professor tenure-track position in Counselor Education beginning August 20, 2018. Position # 514238
2) a nine-month, full time, Clinical Assistant Professor, in the Counselor Education beginning August 20, 2018. Position # 514269
Tenure Open Rank Line Responsibilities: Teaching, advising, supervising practicum and internship students; serving on departmental, college and university committees; providing service to the university and community; publishing in refereed journals; conducting scholarly presentations at professional counseling conferences. Expectation to secure external funding to support research endeavors. Evidence of successful teaching in the eight CACREP content areas.
Clinical Assistant Professor Responsibilities: Teaching, advising, supervising practicum and internship students; serving on departmental, college and university committees; providing service to the university and community; conducting scholarly presentations at professional counseling conferences; working closely with program, departmental and university partners to continually improve the program. Evidence of successful teaching in the eight CACREP content areas is critical.
The Counselor Education program within the Department of Leadership and Professional Studies is CACREP-accredited and offers the Master of Science degree program with tracks in School Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling. The department also houses graduate programs in School Psychology, and Educational Leadership. Opportunities for cross-disciplinary teaching, research, and service are encouraged. Qualifications for both positions: Earned doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited university with a concentration in School Counseling or Clinical Mental Health Counseling; strong professional identity as a counselor; evidence of commitment to the profession of counseling (e.g., leadership in counseling organizations, successful counseling work experience, publication in refereed counseling journals); evidence of successful, diverse university teaching experience; evidence of scholarly productivity (e.g., quality research in the field of counseling--Tenure line only). The successful candidate must have an ability to use technology as a teaching tool and will have demonstrated the ability to teach and work meaningfully with persons from culturally-rich and linguistically-diverse backgrounds.
Additional Salary Information: Salary is commensurate with experience.
