The Laboratory of Gareth Howell is seeking a Research Intern. The focus is to understand the role vascular health in age-related neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease and Vascular Dementia. Using multidisciplinary approaches that combine genomics and genetics with functional assays, neuropathology and high resolution microscopy my research seeks to identify and understand how genetic and environmental factors combine to impact vascular health, increasing risk for dementias. Ultimately, we aim to identify novel approaches and therapeutics to treat dementia. See https://www.jax.org/research-and-faculty/faculty/gareth-howell for more details.
The Research Intern position is a unique, temporary position lasting up to 36 months and is designed specifically for individuals with a 4 year Life Science, Biology, Computational Biology or applicable degree looking to advance their scientific/research training prior to pursuing further educational endeavors. During the internship, Interns are eligible to apply for permanent positions at JAX as long as performance is rated satisfactory by their Scientific Advisor, but a permanent position is not guaranteed.
