The College of Health Solutions and the School of Nutrition and Health Promotion (SNHP) at Arizona State University (ASU) are seeking a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track faculty member at the rank of assistant or associate professor in the area of molecular nutrition focused on nutrigenetic and nutrigenomic causes of metabolic and/or vascular disease. Areas of interest include epigenetics, proteomics, microbiome-gene interactions and non-coding RNA. We will also consider exceptionally strong candidates for full professor and exceptionally strong candidates from other fields of nutrition. The candidate will have the ability to work closely with SNHP faculty including nutrition, exercise, and behavioral scientists; epidemiologists; psychologists; and physiologists; in the areas of behavior change, community-based interventions, food security, food and nutrition policy, metabolism, dietary and physical activity assessment methods development, microbiome, and exercise physiology. The position will be housed within the ASU’s Center for Metabolic and Vascular Biology at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. This setting provides an established collaborative environment between ASU and Mayo Clinic investigators conducting a wide range of research in metabolic biology, including muscle protein metabolism, adipose tissue metabolism, obesity, insulin resistance, cancer, and inflammation. The Clinical Studies Infusion Unit at Mayo Clinic supports human studies that can involve a wide array of invasive procedures.
The school supports academic programs in Nutrition (NTR), Exercise and Wellness (EXW), Kinesiology (KIN), and Health Sciences (HSC), and has one of the largest Didactic Dietetics and Dietetic Internship programs in the country. Besides multiple undergraduate programs, the SNHP offers programs leading to MS in Nutrition, MS in Nutrition (Dietetics), MS in Obesity Prevention and Management, MS in Exercise and Wellness, MS in Clinical Exercise Physiology, and interdisciplinary PhD in Physical Activity, Nutrition and Wellness.
Responsibilities for this position include developing an active externally funded research program (60% which moves to 40% after two years), teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and mentoring students in research (20% which moves to 40% after two years), and providing service to the program and university as well as to the community and profession (20%). The ideal candidate will present evidence of a successful research trajectory, including a strong publication record and evidence of grantsmanship consistent with rank, and a strong commitment to high quality teaching and student mentoring.
The College of Health Solutions (CHS) is dedicated to translating scientific advances to improve health outcomes through education, research and service. We equip students with the knowledge and skills to influence healthier lifestyle choices; develop creative interventions to improve the health of people and populations; analyze and translate large amounts of health data into solutions; and maximize the technology, science, business and application of diagnostics. The college’s research programs encompass basic/discovery science, clinical trials, intervention science, and measurement of health outcomes. In all cases, the CHS focus is to use interdisciplinary approaches to addressing the complex systems that underpin all health problems.

The HLRC has been developed to facilitate interactions among SNHP faculty and to promote collaborative research.
