Bowling Green State University (BGSU), a doctoral/research-high public university in northwest Ohio, seeks an energetic, entrepreneurial, and inspiring leader to serve as the next Dean of the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS). Reporting to the Provost and Senior Vice President, the dean will provide leadership and vision to build a distinctive, integrated College that advances teaching, research, and service in health sciences and human services.

CHHS is dynamic and comprehensive, made up of three diverse, interconnected departments: Communication Sciences and Disorders; Human Services; and Public and Allied Health, as well as consortial programs in nursing. Enrollments are rising rapidly in the College and CHHS is graduating students with strong job prospects in fields with growing demand in northwestern Ohio and across the state. At a university that counts community engagement as an important responsibility, CHHS takes this part of the mission seriously with established strong and mutually beneficial relationships that are advantageous for students and members of the community.
The next dean will be expected to lead the College effectively by uniting the departments under a common shared vision that is aligned with University goals as well as connecting the College with the community; expand academic programming to ensure students are able to enroll in a variety of programs of study that align with the region's workforce needs; strategically grow research and scholarship, especially applied research; develop and strengthen academic, research, and public service external partnerships; enhance the College's commitment to building a community that fosters, celebrates, and appreciates diversity and inclusion; represent the College externally to raise its profile in the community; and attract new sources of financial resources to the College.
Minimum credential requirements include: An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in one of the disciplines represented in the College, or closely related field; teaching, scholarly research/creative activity, and service credentials meriting appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure; a minimum of three to five years in academic leadership roles in a university setting; and experience working with a variety of constituencies to create and support mutually beneficial partnerships, development opportunities, and/or other externally-focused initiatives.
