The HudsonAlpha Clinical Services Laboratory (CSL) is seeking a creative, dynamic and experienced clinical molecular geneticist (or molecular genetic pathologist) to join our group as the Clinical Laboratory Director of the Clinical Services Lab. Responsibilities include oversight of clinical lab operations (focused on next-generation sequencing), quality management, assay development, and case sign out. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of human molecular genetics and molecular diagnostics, significant critical problem solving skills, and the desire to translate advances in genomic science into clinical testing in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
JOB SPECIFIC TASKS
Supervision of testing personnel
Oversight of laboratory quality management and compliance programs
Clinical WGS interpretation and sign out
Development and validation of new assays
Engagement in clinical and translational research programs at the institution
Evaluate and manage partnerships with other institutions and commercial partners
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
ABMG board certified or board eligible in clinical molecular genetics
MD and or PhD degree in a relevant field
Experience with next generation sequencing and bioinformatics
Experience with laboratory developed test validation
Must be proficient in the regulatory and compliance aspects of clinical laboratory operations, familiar with CLIA and CAP requirements.
Exposure to robotics and laboratory automation
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to determine appropriate course of action in complex situations
Must be comfortable working with the analysis and informatics software tools used for routine genomic analysis
Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
Ability to work independently
Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information
Successful working in a fast-paced lab environment
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Extremely detailed oriented

Sustained standing and/or sitting, depending on laboratory environment (wet lab or data analysis)
