To craft and edit educational content for various types of risk management materials
To provide support for policyholders with risk management questions
To serve as a division-wide resource
Specific Position Responsibilities
Write content for risk management offerings, including online coursework, resource library entries, live seminar materials, and more that:
Provides learners with needed knowledge
Assesses learners’ abilities to apply that knowledge and/or change performance
Is congruent with best practices in adult education, and e-learning (when applicable)
Demonstrate exemplary writing and editing skills by:
Developing relevant and engaging content
Making content easily consumable
Employing intuitive and ethical research techniques
Communicating clearly, concisely and persuasively
Conduct ongoing needs assessment
Work with other members of the risk management division to actualize content into final materials
Work with outside faculty, subject matter experts and other ISMIE divisions in writing content
Ensure that the ISMIE voice is present in all writing, and that established editorial styles are followed
Provide telephone and written risk management consultation in response to policyholders, office staffs, and internal ISMIE staff members’ questions
Actively seek solutions to problems and additional duties/responsibilities as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree, plus three to five years of experience writing in a professional capacity. The desirable candidate will have experience with health care risk management and patient safety. Occasional travel may be required.
Specific Skills Desired:
Writing and editing. This position requires excellent writing skills, with demonstrated proof of professional technical writing. Must have an editorial eye, and be familiar with AP style.
Research and data analysis. This position requires facile research skills, including the ability to synthesize data in to actionable recommendations.
Instructional Design. This position requires familiarity with instructional design methods, adult learning theory, e-learning best practices, and evaluation methods.
Technology. This position requires proficiency with Microsoft Office.
