As a leading supplier of products engineered to be used in demanding environments, we are looking for a Quality Engineer to join the Venting Business Group in Elkton, MD.

In this role, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating activities involved in development, application and maintenance of quality standards and documents from customers through suppliers. You will work across functions to develop, improve, and stabilize manufacturing processes, in alignment with quality and profit goals. A significant focus area is helping to translate customer requirements throughout the supply chain and driving plans to close the gaps.
Quality Planning * Partner with technical team to drive work that ensures quality system requirements are met from a new product development through commercial production
Develop process flow diagram, control plan documentation, and drive creation of FMEA (Design & Process)
Own and drive the PPAP (production part approval process) and/or FAI (first article introduction)
Continuous Improvement * Review quality systems, audit/inspect outcomes, quality metrics and business processes to identify and drive areas for improvement
Partner with process engineers to assure that effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented
Lead and/or participate on quality improvement project teams
Lead customer audits and participate in supplier and contract manufacturing audits
Process Upsets * Drive root cause analysis and corrective action identification through the use of quality problem solving tools (i.e. 5Why, 8D, Ishikawa Diagram)
Customer Interface * Understand customer specific requirements, translate these requirements into Gore internal processes, negotiate with customers as needed, and ensure internal processes are capable and sustainable
Required Job Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science A minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality role Demonstrated ability to understand and apply engineering fundamentals Demonstrated hands-on experience with* all aspects including risk analysis for APQP (advanced product quality planning), or comparable industry experience translating customer requirements to quality processes throughout the supply chain
