The CHA Patient Safety Program is robust and dynamic, and has a critical role that contributes to the achievement of both CHA’s commitment to improve hospitals’ clinical performance, and meet CHA yearly target metrics as well as its overall mission/vision/strategy. This program closely works with CHA member hospitals and health systems and the American Hospital Association to achieve both individual facility and statewide goals in the area of clinical improvement and patient safety.
The Project Manager for Quality and Patient Safety will be primarily responsible for managing various aspects of project development and implementation for quality and patient safety initiatives in which CHA engages. The position collaborates with clinical quality managers in the Patient Safety Department to assure that these initiatives are successfully planned and implemented.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Manager for Quality and Patient Safety will be responsible for the following project management of assigned quality and patient safety initiatives as determined by the Director for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety:
Supporting the recruitment of hospitals and key stakeholders
Developing and maintaining project plans for assigned projects
Creating and managing project timelines
Working closely with the clinical quality manager to develop and implement intervention strategies for assigned projects
Communicating project activities and progress with project stakeholders via newsletter, email or other communication channels
Organizing ongoing education opportunities for assigned projects, including live conferences, teleconferences and webinars
Coordinating site visits to hospitals through the state to assist with achieving project goals and deliverables
Arranging on-site training and coaching for hospitals participating in assigned projects
Working with key contributors to facilitate the preparation of regular data reports as needed, including creation of spreadsheets, tables and graphs and using metrics to report results, trends, and conclusions.
Researching and providing non-clinical tools, resources and coaching for CHA members regarding assigned projects or as requested by members
Partnering with other healthcare organizations that will contribute to the overall project goals and objectives
Providing reports to the Director for Quality Improvement & Patient Safety about the progress of assigned projects
Serving as an internal resource to others in CHA regarding quality and patient safety issues as requested
Representing CHA in statewide meetings related to quality and patient safety as requested by Director for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety
Conducting surveys of CHA member hospitals and health systems to collect information of value to the Patient Safety Department as identified by Director for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety
Providing technical assistance to CHA member hospitals and health systems participating in assigned projects
Other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field
Master degree preferred
Project Management Professional certification preferred
Minimum two years’ experience in project management preferred
Experience working in a hospital setting preferred
