The Beaver College of Health Sciences (BCHS) at Appalachian State University welcomes nominations and applications for a dynamic and innovative leader for an exciting new position as Director of Interprofessional Clinical Education beginning on or before July 1, 2017. The Director of Interprofessional Clinical Education is a full-time, twelve-month position. Responsibilities will include direction and strategic development of interprofessional clinical training programs; collaboration with departments and academic programs across the University to meet Appalachian’s and BCHS’ mission; and managerial oversight of the IHHS Health Clinic, an interprofessional training clinic within the BCBS-NC Institute for Health and Human Services that trains students in delivery of health and human services at Appalachian. This position will also establish and maintain collaborations outside Appalachian with other educational institutions, health care providers, and regional health and service organizations to support interprofessional clinical education and develop new and innovative clinical training opportunities. The Director of Interprofessional Clinical Education will report to the Associate Dean for Research & Graduate Education.
Required qualifications for this position include a Master’s degree in a health-related profession with appropriate clinical certification; demonstrated experience and success in building, leading and developing interprofessional collaborations that integrate multiple health disciplines; leadership or managerial experience in a health care setting that includes supervising administrative and clinical staff; and effective communication, interpersonal, and technology skills. Preferred qualifications include at least three years of management experience; experience working in an educational setting, preferably at an institution of higher learning; and successful experience in strategic planning and program development. Doctoral level faculty who meet criteria for Clinical or tenure-track Associate or Full Professor with appropriate leadership experience are also encouraged to apply.
The Beaver College of Health Sciences is the second largest college at Appalachian with over 3,300 undergraduate and graduate majors served by 150 faculty and staff. BCHS was established in 2010 by reorganizing existing departments and degree programs to meet the growing healthcare needs in the region and is poised to be the preeminent and most comprehensive academic center for health professions in western North Carolina. Construction has begun on a new state-of-the-art $80 million, 203,000 square foot facility for the BCHS that will be the cornerstone of the Appalachian Health Sciences Campus and house the primary IHHS Health Clinic.
