Overview / Responsibilities
Amec Foster Wheeler is seeking a Senior Architectural / Structural Estimator to support the AMEASA CSC Construction Group in its pursuit of projects in the USA, Asia, Middle East, Africa and Southern Europe. This position will provide competitive bid quality estimates for incorporating Architectural / Structural work into large projects and for standalone projects as well. Individual will, from time to time, also lead the estimating team effort on typically large complex infrastructure opportunities. Position requires an individual with 8-10+ years of experience estimating projects in the construction industry. Position reports directly to the Director of Preconstruction in Kennesaw, GA office.

Key Responsibilities •Provide detailed estimates based upon conceptual documents as well as schematics, design and construction documents Using Timberline software •Interface with other Estimating disciplines, other members of the Construction Services Team (Bid and Proposal, Project Controls, Design Integration, Procurement and Contracts), Construction Operation and Subcontractors. •Perform thorough high quality take-offs using OST, develop pricing and produce the final estimate to be incorporated into the final work product or as lead, produce the final overall estimate •Develop the Work Breakdown Structure for each estimate, populate and control the pricing Template Including QC review by Compliance, assist with the subcontract work packages to assure ability to evaluate non self-perform work, assist with schedule development, identify / document pricing risk and lead cost and pricing reviews •Maintain a record of estimates and update current cost data •Work with Subcontractors to evaluate bids and capabilities •Work with Project Controls, to assist with budget development and turnover to operations upon award •Assemble estimates including general conditions, special conditions, insurance and bond •Review all estimate packages to insure accuracy and completeness •Obtain and analyze necessary bids on projects from trade contractors and vendors •Make recommendation to Director of Preconstruction concerning improvements to procedures and policies •Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, trade/subcontractors, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures. •Review specifications, drawings, attend design meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. •Provide complete estimating input on projects at all stages of design. •Provide technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates for assigned estimates. •Insure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures. •Review all estimate packages to insure accuracy and completeness •Obtain and analyze necessary bids on projects from trade contractors and vendors •Implement all policies and procedures of the company and offices as directed by upper management
Skills / Qualifications •Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience •Eight (8) to ten (10) years of construction experience and 5 years of estimating experience in the company’s business; thorough knowledge of company procedures, estimating techniques, all engineering disciplines, cost control systems and accounts required •Must have experience with all aspects of estimating architectural / structural bids •Civil estimating experience a plus •Experience in estimating Design/Build Projects in a plus •Ability to work with incomplete drawings and or design build design basis •Ability to develop subcontractor market from project area and assist with solicitation of sub bids •Working Relationship with architectural / structural material and equipment vendors •Must be personable and capable of direct interaction with team members, clients, subcontractors and vendors •Well organized with strong written and oral communication skills, including ability to work in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and carry out responsibilities with limited supervision or oversight by others •Must be self-starter and able to work with little or no supervision to meet tight deadlines •Other experience desired includes Project Management and Superintendent, Foreman or Other Field Experience with self-perform contractor •Working skills with standard business software (MS Office Suite) •Must be proficient in Timberline, MS Excel and OST (On Screen Take-off) with a working knowledge of Primavera (P6 preferred) •Proficiency in earthwork software is a plus •Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical trades •Ability to estimate Architectural/ Structural and or lead estimating effort on projects ranging in size from $2M to in excess of $100M in the public and private sectors for both domestic and global opportunities •Provide supervision and training of mid-level and junior level estimating staff, as well as ensuring and expanding their skills and accuracy •Experienced in estimating both open shop and union projects a plus •Ability to conduct value engineering assignments, and constructability reviews •Willing to obtain security clearances and travel both in the US and internationally as needed •Ability to conduct meetings with the managements to present estimates •Ability to prepare estimates in different stages from schematic to construction documents •Ability to coordinate and supervise group effort •Interpersonal skills, communication skills both written and oral
