Develop site plans and details as well as performing calculations in support of land development
Perform storm water and erosion control design using current North Carolina regulations
Coordinate with local jurisdiction and approval process
Work independently and as part of a team
Review of municipal zoning and land development ordinances and applicable agency regulations to determine land development limitations for the property
Site Investigation & Due Diligence including the review of ordinances, utility service research, outside agency regulations and site visits to establish comprehensive development guidelines.
Researching and writing reports/opinions
Preparation of Concept Drawings based upon client’s development objectives and conclusions of due diligence
Design of Stormwater Management & Stormwater Conveyance Systems. Knowledge of Stormwater Management regulations should include County, NCDEQ and governing municipality in NC
Grading Design to ensure proper drainage, ensure value engineering is achieved through earthwork analysis, and site safety is accomplished through the use of appropriate design slopes
Subdivision and site plan design and layout
Design of Utility Systems, sanitary sewer service, pump station design, water distribution systems, etc. Also involves determination and resolution of vertical and horizontal utility conflicts that may exist
Soil Erosion & Sediment Control Design including stability calculations, Best Management Practices, swale design, spillway design, and determination of construction sequence
Preparation of Construction Cost Estimates based upon site plan drawings as required for bonding and client purposes
Other duties as assigned

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
Civil engineering: 5 years
Government or private industry: 2 years
Autocad civil 3D or Microstation: 2 years
Land development design: 2 years
Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET-accredited civil engineering program
PE in the state of North Carolina
Five or more years of progressive land development design experience
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or Microstation and Microsoft Office
Familiarity with North Carolina stormwater management regulations is preferred
Additional Salary Information: Commensurate with experience
