We are looking for a highly motivated individual with expertise in HTS automation and the execution of high-throughput cell-based assays, who will work closely with the members of the Automation Team to qualify, maintain, and continually upgrade our robotic systems and automated workflows. The individual will have a proven ability to initiate, execute, troubleshoot and complete requested assays. In addition, the successful candidate will partner with other software, automation, and Biology team members (cross-site) to improve success rates, quality of results, equipment performance, and data analysis.
Evolve the Vertex Automation Group by incorporating new technology developments and practices to establish a best-in-industry team.
Build modular/adaptable workstations to include robotics aligned with, for example, FLIPR-based, MSD-based, Imaging and fluorescent/luminescent-based instrumentation.
Quantitative analysis and quality control of HTS data. (Experience with Genedata, a plus.)
Oversight of scale-up of cells and plate miniaturization for screens - experience with either primary cells or iPSC’s would be viewed favorably.
This is a laboratory focused position.
PhD with 3 + years of postdoctoral experience or Master’s with 4 + years of experience in Industry (or equivalent)
Experience with small molecule HT cell-based screening in a dedicated laboratory or core facility
Expertise in, and ability to implement and trouble-shoot automation coordination software, such as “Green Button Go” (or equivalent).
Formal training in an engineering or related discipline, knowledge of development languages such as C#, SQL or PL/SQL experience, basic software programming skills and understanding of database concepts and associated query languages is a plus
Self-motived and organized, with effective communication and presentation skills, and adept in solving/troubleshooting complex problems as well as the ability to navigate a fast-paced work environment
