James + Associates Engineers & Planners, Inc. is accepting applications for a licensed civil engineer or engineering intern with experience in site development and utility design. This person may provide support and direction for utility design including water, sewer, and natural gas. The engineer will also complete planning, permitting, and the design of other construction related projects.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Writing reports and proposal preparation including scope definition
Preparing opinions of construction costs and associated itemized materials
Creating construction documents, drawings, plans, details, specifications and sketches
Monitoring project budgets and creating and tracking project schedules
You must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and have your P.E. license (or working toward P.E. registration). Additional requirements include solid analytical background and computer skills, the ability to work independently and on a team. Excellent oral and written communication, decision-making, problem resolution, and a sense of initiative. Proficiency in MicroStation preferred. These offices are conveniently located in the mid-State area, close to our clients and jurisdictional authorities. The staff, which averages around 20-25, includes Professional Engineers, Engineer Interns, Registered Land Surveyors, CADD Technicians, and other support professionals. Currently, James + Associates has five employees that are TDEC Level 1 certified for construction site inspection, four employees that are TDEC Level 2 certified and two employees that are CPESC certified in erosion and sediment control design and permit development. Additional firm qualifications include two employees with TDOT CEI course certifications and one employee with LEED AP BD+C certification.
