The Quality Assurance Manager working under general supervision of the VP Distribution, relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. The QA Manager provides oversight on Distribution Center processing functions relative to quality of work performed with primary focus on value added service fulfillment. The Manager works with the DC management team in an on-going review of departmental procedures, practices and policies to identify opportunities to improve operational quality and reduce the risk for error. Utilizing independent judgement and discretion, the Manager provides feedback and reporting on discovered issues, recommends solutions and works with DC management to implement effective quality controls. In line with the quality improvements and operations, the Manager ensures follow up on quality controls and provides training as needed. The Manager assures departmental processes are performed in compliance with applicable Sarbanes-Oxley controls.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Establishes and implements quality control monitoring procedures for all distribution center departments focusing on value added service processes.
Monitors adherence to defined quality control practices.
Devise and review specifications for products or processes
Interpret customer quality requirements and transpose to internal specifications.
Supervise inspectors, technicians and other staff and provide guidance and feedback
Assists DC management in identifying and correcting quality failure points
Works with DC departmental leadership in the review and development of clear operational work instructions which limit the risk for error.
Recommends and assists in the design of improved operational controls to address and correct quality issues discovered.
Ensures all identified quality controls are kept current for relevant tasks for each department in the Distribution Center.
Follow up on Corrective Actions, internal and external.
Refine and enhance processes by applying Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma Continuous Improvement principles and techniques.
Provides weekly / monthly reporting on overall quality performance in the DC detailing discovered issues and subsequent control measures
Keep accurate documentation and perform statistical analysis
Minimum years of career experience to qualify for role: 7 years
Includes a combination of education and experience in progressively responsible roles particularly:
2 years of experience working in a quality control program.
5 years or more years of direct responsibility for the administration of a quality control program in a production or processing environment, preferably in a Distribution Center or Warehouse.
Total years of career experience in order to be fully proficient: 10 years
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
Certifications held in either ISO or Six Sigma applications at a green belt level, prefer higher.
Prefer the following ASQ Certifications: CQM, CQE, & CQA
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Solid command of Microsoft Office tools, ability to create detailed reports using Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Ability to absorb and apply newly learned technical skills.
Well versed in the administration of a quality control program in a production or processing environment
Direct hands on experience maintaining or upgrading a Quality Management Standard such as ISO 9001:2008
Well-developed analytical and problem resolution skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of FMEA, SPC, CAPA, DOE
Proven experience working with teams in the planning and implementation of large projects.
Strong verbal and written communication skills required for investigating various quality related problem issues, collaborating on quality improvement project initiatives and producing reports.
Ability to adapt to meet ever changing operational requirements.
