Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is seeking an Environmental Technician to collect environmental samples from a variety of media including soil, sediment, groundwater, air, etc. Candidate will be expected to travel more than 50% of the time.
Collect sediment, soil and groundwater samples and prepare samples for testing, record data, and prepare summary reports
Conduct indoor air quality investigations
Perform field tests according to prescribed procedures, processes and standards using field instruments and other environmental equipment
Prepare and maintain field logs and prepare reports electronically
Accurate and appropriate data gathering in support of performed field activities, with subsequent generation of clearly-written and understandable daily field reports
Skills / Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Prefer 5+ of environmental field technician experience
Ability to use laboratory and / or test equipment in an effective and safe manner
40 hour OSHA HAZWOPER trained
Self-starter with good communication skills
Flexible to work outside normal business hours as required
Willingness to travel to project sites and approximately 50% to 75% overnight travel
Ability to understand procedural manuals and execute work orders
Attention to detail
Ability to follow directions
Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
Ability to stoop, kneel, climb and lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to use hands to operate field equipment
Field activities may require working in unfavorable weather conditions
Field activities may require working in specialized protective equipment supplied by employer Candidate must be physically capable of performing tasks in such equipment
Close, distance, and peripheral vision; normal auditory function
Must complete employment physical demonstrating ability to meet job requirements, including the ability to wear a respirator, as required
Completion of annual or bi-annual employment physical, as required
Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
Must pass Health and Safety Training and Defensive Driving Courses upon hire
