Curtis Packaging is currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer. This position reports directly to the Quality Manager and interacts with all levels of the organization. This person will support Curtis’ efforts to exceed customer’s expectation by ensuring product conformance to requirements by conducting in-process inspection and testing and evaluate finished product to required specifications.
Able to initiate, analyze and report quality related data using statistical techniques.
Collect, organize, monitor and distribute information related to quality and process improvement functions, including but not limited to compliance to and documentation of quality management standards such as ISO 9001.
Generate and distribute reports Report findings to designated persons in each appropriate department.
Provide support to the Quality Manager, and act as back-up as needed.
Generate or revise department SOPs as necessary.
Conduct quality, supplier, and good manufacturing practice audits.
Review of testing reports to ensure quality.
Responsible for defining quality concepts and quality processes, including: six sigma basics, cost of quality, etc; apply quality tools, interpret information and data, apply team concepts both as a member and leader.
Maintain QA calibrations program by scheduling calibration checks for all tools, and performing checks and updating calibration records & stickers.
Facilitate CAPAs and preventive actions as necessary.
Responsible for applying the elements of corrective and preventive actions, including root cause analysis, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and the control of nonconforming material.
Create a safe work environment by adopting and following Company safety manual and regulatory requirements. Reinforce positive safety actions while eliminating unsafe acts/programs, while escalating to management any concerns that need attention for the safe working of all associates.
Education/Experience: We are seeking a Quality Person who has experience in ISO 9001, ANSI Sampling Strategies, and 6 Sigma. An Associates Degree, Bachelor's Degree or ASQ Certifications such as QCT or CQE are preferred, but not required.
Experience in ISO 9001, ANSI Sampling Strategies, and 6 Sigma. Exercises good judgment in the use of measuring instruments, gauges, and accepted quality inspection procedures to evaluate and document quality assurance throughout the operation. Demonstrate ability in the following: analytical thinking, trouble shooting, problem solving, mathematical aptitude, effective communication skills.
Must be able to define statistical techniques, including basic elements of design of experiments (DOE) and reliability; must be able to determine what data to collect for a specific technique, how to apply it to various statistical methods, and how to analyze results. Must be motivated and want to be part of a team that will help transform our Quality Department. This is a very fast paced environment that is continuously improving.
