The Assistant Quality Manager is responsible for managing UCI’s quality program and ensuring that it meets 10CFR 50 Appendix B, NQA-1 and ISO 9001 requirements. Also, responsible for managing personnel in quality and purchasing departments.
Duties and responsibilities:
Managing the entire Quality Program, and Organizational performance, including strategic planning, objectives, and improvement programs.
Managing personnel in quality and purchasing departments
Problem solving quality related issues
Communicating with internal staff in providing quality details and status updates on the tasks assigned
Verifying that all the activities related to quality are properly executed by all personnel
Providing support in quality related activities to internal staff and customers
Reviewing and approving engineering, quality and project management documents as applicable
Initiating corrective/preventive actions and ensuring that they are completed in a timely manner
Managing qualified suppliers list and performing supplier evaluations in a timely manner
Managing personnel training records and qualifications
Verifying that the non-conformance items are tagged and segregated properly
Creating annual Trend Analysis report
Reviewing Quality Manuals periodically to ensure that they meet the 10CFR50 Appendix B, NQA-1 and ISO-9001 requirements
Scheduling and Participating in internal and external audits and commercial grade surveys when required
Performing and reviewing 10CFR Part 21 evaluations
Creating lean processes related to quality
Training of new employees and other personnel in quality functions
Creating and managing department budgets
Approving PTO and expense reports for personnel in quality department
Reviewing audit and survey reports and creating closure letters
Managing Nuclear Safety Culture program
Managing QA records
Maintaining NIAC membership and safety related software
Verifying all the M&TE is calibrated periodically and maintaining calibration program
Managing Preventive maintenance program of the test equipment
Scheduling and assigning resources efficiently for the assigned tasks
Ensuring the assigned tasks are completed by the assigned due date
Ensuring that the orders are planned and executed per customer purchase order requirements, UCI’s quality procedures and industry standards
Reviewing customer purchase orders and review order entry into UCI’s database
Planning all quality activities required to complete the assigned order
Approving purchase orders to procure items and services
Approving dedication and qualification test procedures for electrical/mechanical/chemical/construction components and assemblies
Approving test data and verifying if the results met established acceptance criteria and customer requirements
Approving and closing non-conformance and deviation reports
Performing required inspections
Approving all order related documents
Reviewing customer specifications, extracting required quality requirements and ensuring those requirements are met
Reviewing customer requests for quotes and quoting based on UCI’s capabilities
Communicating with customers and vendors in requesting/providing quality details
Witnessing activities at subcontractor/customer facilities when required
Creating Certificate of Conformances when required
Releasing items for shipment to customers/vendors or to be used in assembly process when required
Submitting documents to customers/vendors and ensuring that the approvals are received when required
Uploading order related documents to electronic database once approved by quality
Creating, reviewing and approving quality plans
Must have 5+ years of experience in managing quality activities and personnel
Diploma/Degree in related quality field is preferred
Understanding of nuclear industry quality assurance program requirements typically acquired through appropriate experience in the industry including 10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR21, ASME NQA-1, ISO 9001 is required
Strong communications skills: verbal, written and interpersonal
Understanding of electronic Database use and provide necessary input for current status and accurate information.
Ability to lift minimum of 25 lbs, bend over, walk, reach overhead, step on a small ladder. Pass a J1 eye test.
Travel required: 5% of the time
Be able to work in office, warehouse, laboratory and team environment
