This position supports NASA Space Medicine Operations Division Flight Medicine Clinic and NASA JSC Flight Crew Health Stabilization Program. Implement the NASA Health Stabilization program which is designed to mitigate the risk of occurrence of infectious diseases on astronaut flight crews. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental Plan. Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the Company’s safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel. Responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan, policies and procedures. Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the Company. Responsible for completing all assigned training. Support and maintain the Flight Crew Health Stabilization Program as required by NASA. Serve as the Infectious Disease Control Team Designated Lead (DL-IDCT). Provides oversight for the implementation of the HSP guidelines. Interface with Behavioral Health and Performance advisors regarding behavioral health aspects of infectious disease control activities for launching crewmembers. Coordinate and implement medical screening of personnel needing contact with the flight crew. Oversight of medical safety of organized food and water supply, conditions of accommodations, environmental services, work and rest of Crewmembers and other personnel residing in the Astronaut Quarantine Facility. Responsible for the generation of HSP report of infectious diseases occurrences and variances of the principles and regulations of the plan.
Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Master’s Degree in Public Health plus 4 years of experience; or equivalent experience. Desired experience in Infectious Disease, Global Health or PhD in related field of Global Health.
Skills and Training PC skills in Microsoft office products, knowledge of electronic medical record systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively lead teams and work independently. Experience in Aerospace medicine field desired. Verbal and written communication skills using the English language, prioritize multiple, competing assignments, perform effectively in a fast paced, demanding work environment,. Available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as necessary or desirable to meet business needs
