The Regional Municipality of Waterloo is seeking a new Director, Transit Services, who would provide leadership and direction to the Transit Services Division in the planning and delivery of safe, customer-focused, and reliable transit services. He/she would be responsible for directing the development, implementation and monitoring of programs, policies, and procedures. He/she makes recommendations for inclusion in the Transportation Master Plan and directs strategic operational planning/ implementation in support of same. His/her collaborative nature and strong political acumen will guide interactions with the staff, colleagues across the organization, and Council.
You are a proven confident, proactive leader and a strategic thinker who has demonstrated success in a senior management role, specifically in the provision of Transit services, within the private or public sector. Your exceptional interpersonal skills have earned you a reputation for building a positive, accountable work culture and developing and inspiring strong management teams and staff. A model example of exceptional commitment to customer service, you set the standard for a division that strives to provide the highest quality of services to Waterloo citizens.
Having completed your University Education or a College Diploma, preferably in Business Administration, Engineering or equivalent, you also have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the area of Transportation, especially Transit Services. Experience working within a unionized environment is a must, PENG is preferred although it’s not a requirement.
You possess a participative leadership style, strong customer service focus and political acumen, exceptional interpersonal skills, excellent written communication skills and strong computer skills, combined with the ability to build and support teams as well as foster strong relationships with elected officials, external consultants and government agencies.
