Analyzes, plans, designs, implements, and administers the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Performance Improvement program for the Fire Department. The Fire Department provides EMS including Advanced Life Support, first response care and Mobile Integrated Healthcare.

Criminal Background Screening
Conducts performance improvement reviews of EMS documentation and care delivered as set forth by Arizona Department of Health Services guidelines.
Evaluates EMS data and programs; identifies the most effective methods of emergency medical care; identifies methods to correct complex medical issues and patient care delivery situations; designs and administers continuous quality improvement programs to measure program outcomes and effectiveness; develops standard operating procedures (SOPs), educational and operational programs, and makes other medical recommendations to chain of command as needed.
Develops and maintains computerized record keeping systems for all performance improvement reviews.
Analyzes, plans, and evaluates EMS programs. Conducts research and analysis of current and future EMS issues and trends to EMS medical services reflecting the most current technology and service delivery alternatives.
Serves as a liaison between the Fire Department and hospitals, medical direction authorities, ambulance supervisors, and other agencies regarding EMS activities, procedures, and policies.
Communicates with Fire personnel, citizens, and other customers in identifying and resolving EMS issues through committee and chain of command.
Develops computer-based training programs.
Bachelor's Degree in nursing or emergency medical technician-paramedicine from an accredited educational institution is required.
Must have 3 years' experience in the medical profession as a Paramedic, Registered Nurse or Emergency Medicine Practitioner.
An equivalent combination of education and job related experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
Licensing, Credentials and Other Requirements:
Must possess and maintain an Arizona registered nurse certification or paramedic certification at the time of hire.
Must possess an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) instructor certification, or have the ability to obtain certification within one year of hire.
Must possess a Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Education for Pre-hospital Professionals instructor certification, or have the ability to obtain certification within one year of hire.
Additional Salary Information: Effective July 1, 2018 the salary range will increase to $56,451.20-$82,056.00 annually.
