Job Summary: Directs the organization’s Risk Management Program which includes a general knowledge of facility insurance programs; administering the risk management program on a day-to-day basis; managing and analyzing risk management data, trending, identifying gaps in results or program aspects, identifying opportunities for improvement, preparing reports to communicate data findings and analysis of information; conducting education applicable to risk management and patient safety initiatives; complying with regulatory and accreditation standards; formulating policy to support risk management initiatives and principles; participating in committees to integrate risk management into committee work product; interfacing with the corporate risk management department on claims management; and minimizing loss to protect the assets of the facility. As Patient Safety Officer (PSO) and PSO Field Manager to Lifepoint’s PSOrg, works collaboratively with the executive team, other administrative staff, and medical and nursing staff to develop strategies to minimize incidents. Through collaborative partnerships, the PSO develops and maintains a comprehensive program designed to align existing safety and quality efforts with the institutional priorities as well as support and participate in safety and quality initiatives and services that produce measurable improvements in processes and practices that affect patient safety. Assists the CMO / Department Chairmen in clinical performance excellence activities. Directs the Medical Staff Office and provides oversight for departmental activity related to medical staff relations, credentialing, and medical staff support functions. Directs the activities of Patient Relations and provides oversight for programs, projects, and coordinates with the risk management process. Participates in a substantial amount of interaction with physicians, physician leaders, directors, managers, and related external parties
Current RN licensure in Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Graduate of approved school of nursing and Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Business, or other healthcare related field. Two-four years in healthcare risk management or quality management with exposure to Safety and Insurance Programs and Clinical Performance improvement activities. Related healthcare experience in leadership positions, public speaking, quality/performance improvement skills and tools, working knowledge of TJC accreditation standards and/or related hospital clinical experience, experience in leading teams through process improvement and change initiatives.
