Hexcel is currently seeking a Quality Engineer for our Kent, WA, USA location. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and direction of quality and inspection, planning, change management, and Bill of Material (BOM) planning. Additionally, the QE must ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability of processes and quality controls.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
Develop and oversee inspection for composite structure and assembly requirements.
Participate in design reviews, develop part inspection plans, and drive overall product quality improvement.
Effectively work with suppliers and assure requirements are implemented and compliant.
Analyze technical requirements of contracts, drawings and specifications to develop plans for product quality.
Customer Relations - Regular and frequent communication with customer Quality Assurance organizations. Contact can be up to daily. Must be able to communicate directly and support company needs while maintaining the utmost personal integrity. Must work with customer’s on-site representation. Must visit customer sites from time to time and present a positive, professional image.
Review and process discrepancy tags when MRB action is required.
Maintain corrective action plans as required to support customer requirements.
Create and maintain quality documentation when required by customer or internal system.
Know and apply all applicable customer specifications and procedural requirements.
Know and follow all applicable internal quality procedural requirements.
Assure compliance to required systems and procedures.
Review and approve production planning with respect to the quality, first article and inspection requirements.
Review and analyze Model Base Definition (MBD) and GD&T requirements.
Conduct internal and external audits as required.
Operate at all times in compliance with the Hexcel Kent Quality System and Quality Policy.
Comply with Hexcel policies, procedures, and Code of Business Conduct.
Model safe working habits and champion safety in the workplace.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline from four-year college or university required
Minimum of two years of experience in Quality Assurance, aerospace manufacturing preferred.
Strong technical analysis skills.
Lean/Six Sigma experience preferred.
American Society of Quality (ASQ) certification preferred.
Certified Lead Auditor training preferred.
Familiarity or hands-on experience with measurement and inspection equipment.
Knowledge of AS9100 and Nadcap requirements.
Good communication and interaction skills.
Ability to read and analyze drawing and specifications with MBD.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
Strong statistics background in support of Six Sigma activities preferred.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
