Sierra View Medical Center, a 167-bed, full-service acute care hospital located at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, is seeking a Founding Program Director to develop a 30 categorical resident (10 per year) internal medicine residency program, with 5-transition year IM residents per year. The hospital, located in Porterville, California, serves the entire Southern Sequoia region of California’s Central Valley and is the pre-eminent health care provider in the area. The service area includes a population of over 115,000 residents.

The Program Director will establish the strategic direction of the program and is responsible for the standards, quality and reputation of the internal medicine residency program. Possession of an MD/ DO from an accredited medical school.
Current certification in the specialty by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or hold credentials deemed equivalent for certification by the ACGME’s Internal Medicine Residency Review Committee.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience as teaching faculty in an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency program.
Minimum of three (3) years of administrative experience in graduate medical education.
Possess the required specialty expertise, as well as documented educational and administrative abilities, to carry out the responsibilities of the role and to achieve the goals and objectives of the program.
Demonstrated clinical competence as a practicing physician.
Appointed as a member in good standing of the Sierra View Medical Center’s medical staff.
Unrestricted credentials within the Department of Internal Medicine of Sierra View Medical Center and licensed to practice medicine in the state of California.
Reporting Structure: The Program Director reports to the Designated Institutional Official with collaborative reporting to the President of the Medical Staff and the Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine.
