Libbey is hiring a Quality Compliance Engineer to support and work collaboratively with our sales teams, acting as the primary technical quality contact. This position will coordinate and be responsible for 3rd party compliance testing, support quality related audits at the facilities and work with Libbey’s manufacturing facilities in developing and communicating corrective and preventive action plans to our customers.
This role will need to have in-depth knowledge and understanding of the quality expectations in each major channel; visual, performance, and physical testing components. We are seeking a candidate with a continuous improvement focus, who will support our quality, cost and delivery initiatives to improve customer satisfaction and quality expectations.
Development execution of a proactive 3rd party testing system, including the development of a database, reviewing of the various components and standards of compliance, development of consistent document formats for customer communication and a calendar for annual audits
Constant cross functional partnership with internal customers from new product development, legal, sales and manufacturing
Support manufacturing facilities during Quality and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) related audits, such as Bureau Veritas, UL, Kohl’s, Target, et al. (Social compliance and EH&S audits are excluded)
Coordinate corrective and preventive action responses, activities and follow up
Stay up to date with relevant compliance and testing standards (such as ASTM) for our various product categories, and communicate with our customers when an inappropriate test is recommended
Review all new products in ensuring we have the processes, quality requirements communicated and capabilities of manufacturing these items
Perform internal Quality and GMP audits as requested
Assist with the development of an item/process portfolio, with the purpose of providing a consistent template for transferring quality and process information between manufacturing facilities
Assist in the development and implementation of a global Quality Management System
Bachelor’s degree required; Quality or Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering is preferred
ASQ certification(s) in Quality Engineering, Quality Systems or Auditing preferred. Must be willing to attain at least one of these certifications within the first year on the job.
Lean systems training, with demonstrated experience and success in implementation
Six Sigma Green Belt certification desired
Demonstrated use of structured problem solving skills
Demonstrated knowledge of SPC software, such as Minitab or QI Macro
Proficient in reading blueprints and understanding of advanced dimensioning such as Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances
Demonstrated experience in performing internal Quality and GMP audits
Ability to work off shift as needed
Ability to travel up to 25%
