It is the role of the Infection Preventionist to develop and implement practices to improve patient care through infection surveillance and prevention activities. Surveillance activities will be based on culture results, trends in the literature and community, and issues identified within the hospital. Prevention activities shall be designed to prevent the spread of organisms in the Cabell Huntington Hospital facilities to patients, employees, medical staff members, service workers, volunteer students and visitors. The Infection Preventionist shall promote collaboration with the patient care team to ensure compliance with basic infection prevention principles.
Certification required within two years of employment
Strongly prefer candidates with past Infection Prevention experience, including experience using surveillance systems.
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required, 5+ years preferred
Two years of position related experience preferred
