Appointee will be responsible for:
Identifying and contacting small and medium-sized manufacturing firms, assessing their technical and management needs, and proposing, selling, and delivering solutions.
Developing and installing QMS programs (ISO and similar) at manufacturing firms
Delivering various services as part of a team from the WVUIE department and WVMEP program
Building and maintaining close professional relationships with manufacturers, select service-sector industries, government agencies, and other organizations that support manufacturing.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contact manufacturers, state wide, to promote the services of the Industrial Extension Service and the department’s center - the West Virginia Manufacturing Extension Partnership (WVMEP). The Industrial Extension Service /WVMEP is the recipient of a cooperative agreement affiliated with the NIST-MEP national network of organizations which provide services to small and medium manufacturers. Identify opportunities in client firms to apply appropriate technology, eliminate common production problems, improve financial and human resource management, develop and implement effective marketing strategies, address regulatory compliance issues, analyze and solve problems and generally raise efficiency.
Will be the primary sales and delivery person for the center’s Quality Management System products
Develop new services based on demonstrated client need.
Maintain current records of client firms, proposals, project status, and timesheets using a PC/Cloud-based customer relationship management system.
Participate in meetings, conferences and events for manufacturers
Travel is required to perform this job, and can be from 1-3 nights per week. Much of the travel can be done as day travel only
Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing operations
Extensive knowledge of, and ability to implement any or all of the following QMS: ISO9001, ISO14001, RCI14001, AS9100,API Standard
Must have up to date certification documents for one or all of the above listed QMS products
Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively, with excellent written communication skills
Ability to analyze and solve problems
Must be a highly motivated self-starter who works well in an independent setting
Ability to travel with a valid driver’s license
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, environmental science, health and safety, supply chain management, marketing, or related field plus minimum of 3 years of experience managing a QMS in an appropriate industrial setting, or installing ISO systems in a consultancy setting.
