The Business Development Manager-Agriculture, is responsible for creating, executing and driving a strategic and sustainable financial growth strategy for Seametrics flow metering solutions across the agricultural market. The BDM works directly with the agricultural distribution sales channel, OEMs and irrigation regulators at state and local levels, providing product training, feedback, and after-sales support while forging long-term trustworthy relationships with new and existing customers.
Responsible for identifying target rich business opportunities for Seametrics products in this market space, including: regulatory metering by district and state, OEM’s and additional channel partners, and closing on mutually profitable opportunities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop, manage, and drive agricultural products business, with a focus on irrigation applications
Create annual market plan and identify, implement and track activities to complete KPIs and drive sales
Grow distributor/channel sales of agricultural products, up to and including identifying and developing third party sales partners to ensure full coverage of the market by geography and segment
Conduct yearly planning with channel partners that includes sales goals, aftermarket support and business development activities
Participate in company planning meetings and provide reports, market/customer information, and make recommendations to ensure market segment growth
Act as primary point contact for the agricultural market
Solicit and organize forecasting and inventory reports from channel partners to relay to factory and senior management for planning
Provide product and process training to channel partners Understand market needs by geography
Manage the roll-out of new agricultural products and assist with market messaging
Work with regulatory agencies to gain approval/acceptance of new products
Possess a strong understanding of Seametrics products, competition in the market and product positioning
Participate in sales/development activities including; customer visits, telephone contact, webinars, e-mail correspondence, trade shows, seminars, product demonstrations and customer seminars
Provide operational recommendations by analyzing key areas such as industry trends, market size, competitor capabilities, customer buying criteria, purchase process, price sensitivity, channel requirements and technology
Collect and report customer VOC and competitive information
Supervise Central Region Irrigation Sales Specialist, including setting priorities, reviewing trip reports, and providing guidance to ensure territory and personal growth
Bachelor’s degree in Agri-Marketing, Agri-Business, Engineering or related field (minimum) 7+ years of Agricultural Market experience Proven knowledge of the agricultural market, knowledge of irrigation a plus Overnight travel - 50% Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Marketing 2+ Years in technical sales 3+ Years in Sales Management of 3rd party distribution 3+ years of product/industry marketing experience
