The University of Washington School of Medicine Department of Radiology is seeking an outstanding clinical and academic Radiologist to be Medical Director of its Eastside Clinic (ESC). The Radiologist will be a full member of this top-ten academic Radiology Department and will also oversee outpatient imaging business development.
The ESC is a new ambulatory multispecialty clinic located in Bellevue (five miles from the UW campus) which has incorporated a full-service imaging center. Modality technologies include GE dual energy plain radiography, GE dual-energy CT with VEO, state-of-the art 1.5 T Philips Ingenia level MR, and Philips Epiq ultrasound. The ESC Imaging Center is integrated into the Department of Radiology GE Centricity RIS/PACS and operates as a fully functional extension of the main reading room.
The ESC Imaging Center affords an opportunity for strong business development and volume growth – in parallel with growth in the adjacent UW Medicine Multispecialty Clinics. The successful candidate will have a full-time faculty appointment at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or full Professor non-tenure track in Radiology. This is a 12-month, multi-year appointment.
The ESC Radiology Medical Director’s Responsibilities will include:
Provide vision, leadership, and management oversight of all ESC Imaging services and operations
Formulate, implement, and sustain business development strategies to attract significant new imaging referrals from throughout the Eastside healthcare community. Lead Department-wide initiatives to grow outpatient imaging business at all sites
Serve as the primary onsite radiologist at the ESC Imaging Center. Be the point of contact for referring physicians – both within the ESC and from the community - to ensure excellent service for both physicians and patients. Rotate to main campus UWMC hospital
Create and continually refine a very high-quality patient experience at ESC Imaging
Educate referring physicians in the community about the high quality and advanced technology of UW Imaging services
Identify and meet the needs of referring physicians’ and patients. Support marketing, advertising, and liaison activities aimed at business development for outpatient imaging across UW Medicine
Use leadership skills to foster strong teamwork among ESC imaging personnel
Be responsible for quality and safety
Participate in governance and operations of the ESC
Interpret exams provided in your subspecialty area at the ESC as well as similar exams performed at other UW Medicine sites.
Minimum Education and Experience:
A Board-Certified Radiologist with subspecialty expertise preferably Body Imaging or Neuro
Experience in the management of Radiology Operations
Proven record of success at outreach and market development in a community setting
Have enthusiasm for educating residents and fellows
Become eligible to practice medicine in the state of Washington
Leadership experience with demonstrated ability to foster the success of others
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with managing the business aspects in radiology
Demonstrated knowledge of or training in process improvement or patient safety
Track record of clinical research or education in imaging
University of Washington Faculty engage in teaching, research and service. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H1-B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
