Established by Dr. Timothy Quill in 2001, our Palliative Care Program was the first academic one to earn The Joint Commission’s Advanced Certification in Palliative Care in 2011, in honor of its highest quality clinical consultation, comprehensive educational programs, and innovative research. Our brand new Palliative Care Research Fellowship will be overseen by the Director of Research. The Department of Medicine supports expansion of our research program, including the recruitment of additional faculty. In addition to our faculty expertise, we provide access to extensive research resources through their ongoing studies, existing data sets for secondary analysis, and the assets of the UR Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute.
Rochester is in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of central New York, and is known for natural beauty, four seasons, rich cultural offerings, affordable housing, and low traffic roadways. Home to Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass, the region has been integral to vital social and cultural movements for more than 150 years. Yelp recently ranked Rochester #5 in its list of Hottest Hipster Markets in America.
The individual filling this position will be a mid-career to senior level PhD, MD-DO or MD-DO/PhD with a demonstrated commitment to a research career with a palliative care focus. She or he will have a track record of research publications, extramural funding, and successful mentorship of early career scholars.
