The Privacy Officer is responsible for developing, implementing and directing a comprehensive privacy program for LMC in accordance with federal and state requirements and guidance, as well as Institute policies and procedures
The privacy program shall be designed to ensure that LMC has appropriate administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect (and access) the privacy of protected health information (PHI) and personal information (PI) and ensure patients' rights are protected in compliance with federal and state laws
Such responsibilities include policy and procedure development and enforcement, training and education, and investigation and response to privacy issues and complaints
The Privacy Officer will work closely with LMC Chief Compliance Officer, Director of Information Security, AVP Health Information Services Director, and General Counsel
The Privacy Officer serves as a resource on the laws, regulations, and internal policies pertaining to privacy, health information and PI
The job requires a combination of investigations work and project-based work
The Privacy Officer will be responsible for providing leadership and direction of privacy related committees or groups as directed by the Chief Compliance Officer, including serving as co-chair (along with the ISO) of the Information Security and Privacy (IS&P) Committee
Bachelor's degree in related field
Equivalent of three (3) years of full-time experience with privacy and confidentiality, health information management, or information security.
MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) expertise and knowledge of or ability to learn electronic medical record auditing software.
Project management and change management experience to ensure projects come to fruition from inception to completion.
