Atrius Health seeks a Director of Clinical Quality and Patient Safety, a key leadership role in the Performance Excellence Department. The Director is responsible for promoting a culture of safety, high-reliability, patient and staff engagement, and performance excellence aligned with national patient safety goals. S/he will work collaboratively with the Senior Medical Director of Quality and Safety, Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Operating Officer, senior leadership, service line chairs, nursing, pharmacy and administrative/operational leadership to develop and implement a best-in-class quality and safety program and to ensure regulatory compliance and mitigate organizational risk. This position reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and to the Senior Medical Director of Quality and Safety.
The Director supervises Quality and Safety staff (2 FTE), oversees the Safety Reporting System (SERS), organizes the Quality Assurance Committee, works with service-line/site leadership to help establish safe environments for clinical care, collaborates with infection control team to improve infection control safety, participates and leads root cause analyses, and collaborates with CRICO (Malpractice Insurer) around clinical quality, risk, and safety topics. Collaborates with the Medical Director of Quality and Patient Safety to review and establish appropriate policies and procedures, and drive clinical quality/safety improvements across the organization.

RN degree required. Advanced degree (Master’s degree in Nursing or related field, or JD) required. Possesses and maintains a current license to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required. Certification with CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, CPHRM (Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management), and/or CPPS (Certified Professional in Patient Safety) preferred.
At least 5 years of progressively responsible relevant experience in quality, patient safety, regulatory and accreditation, or performance improvement. Management / leadership experience in healthcare and clinical experience preferred. Knowledgeable and experienced in Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA or other performance improvement methods, with record of successful improvement projects.
