The Department of Health and Exercise Science provides a rigorous and enlightening intellectual environment for the professional development, achievement and distinction of leaders in Athletic Training, Community Health, Health Promotion and Wellness Management, Nutrition & Dietetics, and Human Performance in Clinical Settings. In 2016, the Department launched the BS in Human Performance in Clinical Settings (HPCS) program designed to prepare students for careers in Exercise Science. An additional goal of this program is to encourage students to seek ACSM and NSCA certifications. The Department has earned national accreditation when available for each of its programs. The Department of Health and Exercise Science is seeking to hire a qualified individual to teach courses within the area of Exercise Science. The successful candidate will teach Exercise Physiology, Exercise Prescription, Exercise for Special Populations, Biomechanics or other courses as deemed appropriate by the successful candidate’s experience and departmental needs. The successful candidate will assist the HPCS Program Coordinator in seeking accreditation through the CoAES. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous, externally funded research program, as well as high quality scholarly publications that advance knowledge in the field. Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to assisting with internship coordination and providing service to the Department, College and University. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop collaborative multidisciplinary projects with other departments in the sciences, engineering, and emerging programs of medical education and research at Rowan University, as well as with the school of allopathic (www.rowan.edu/coopermed/) and school of osteopathic (www.rowan.edu/som/) medicine.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. from an accredited institution of higher education in Exercise Science or a related field. The successful applicant is preferred to have ACSM and/or NSCA certifications, but these are not required. Evidence of excellence in teaching and prior experience teaching at the university level is desired. Successful candidates will have the ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the areas of Exercise Science within the HPCS program and Department.
