The San Francisco Coordinating Center (SFCC, http://sfcc.ucsf.edu/san-francisco-coordinating-center) is currently recruiting for a Research Associate for the Study of Muscle, Mobility and Aging (SOMMA) and other NIH and industry-sponsored research studies. Incumbent will be part of a team of Investigators, project director, programmer/analysts and project assistants who are responsible for coordinating the scientific design and direction, data collection, data management, quality assurance and statistical analysis components of complex multi-center epidemiological research studies. Incumbent will provide research support to the Investigators and Project Director.
Maintain a thorough familiarity of protocols and requirements of all research studies assigned.
Carryout research study responsibilities in compliance with Institutional Standard Operating Procedures.
Assist in development of study protocols.
Assist in oversight and development of data collection instruments.
Assist in development of quality control procedures and perform site visits as needed with the Project Director.
Serve as a liaison between the SFCC, clinical centers and laboratories.
Monitor study progress with the Project Director including recruitment and retention and progress of lab assays
Coordinate supply and equipment purchases and vendor agreements, including obtaining quotes and preparing necessary paperwork and justification.
Perform data management tasks including data cleaning and running interim reports to assist Data Manager.
Participate in staff meetings and Steering Committee and sub-committee meetings.
Assist with IRB submissions.
Assist with compliance reporting including NIH progress reports and OSMB reporting.
Assist Investigators with literature searches and formatting and submitting of abstracts, presentations, manuscripts.
Perform administrative tasks for study as needed including taking minutes for meetings and conference calls and maintaining a reference library.
Utilize Microsoft Office, study website, EndNote, TELEform designer and SAS
Education: Master Degree in Public Health/Epidemiology or related field is desired but not required.
Skills: Knowledge of the design and conduct of research studies and clinical trials
Conduct relatively independent work.
Excellent organizational skills
Experience working on multi-centered studies preferred.
Knowledge of SAS statistical software is desired but not required.
