The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Central Florida (UCF), invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-earning or tenured position at the assistant or associate professor level to begin August 2019.
The successful candidate will join a diverse faculty and staff in a dynamic and growing university with high research activity and an expanding clinical program. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong individual and collaborative research program, obtain external funding for research or service programs, teach graduate/undergraduate academic and/or clinical courses, advise and mentor students, direct student research, and participate in school, college, university, and disciplinary service.
The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders was founded in 1969 and was first accredited in 1987. It has a strong history of excellence in teaching and community service, as well as an evolving research culture. It is one of four departments and schools in the newly established College of Health Professions and Sciences within the Academic Health Sciences Center. The school includes 30 full-time faculty members serving an average of 200 graduate and 700 undergraduate students. It offers a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. The program boasts numerous internal and external affiliations, including Nemours Children’s Hospital, the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD), numerous public school systems, and the UCF College of Community Innovation and Education. The Communication Disorders Clinic serves as the centerpiece for clinical education and applied research. This 13,500 square foot state-of-the-art facility includes an audiological suite and several specialty services, including the Florida Alliance for Assistive Services and Technology (FAAST) Center, the UCF Listening Center, and the Aphasia House.

Research doctorate (i.e., Doctor of Philosophy or Doctor of Science) in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related discipline from an accredited institution by August 2019. In order to be eligible for an appointment as a tenured associate professor upon hire, a successful candidate must have a distinguished record of scholarly achievement and teaching experience commensurate with a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of associate professor.
A history of, or the potential for a distinguished record of teaching and funded/fundable applied research in the areas of child language and literacy (K-12). Experience with school-based language and literacy interventions as well as CCC-SLP or eligibility for CCC-SLP is preferred.
A history of, or the potential for a distinguished record of teaching and funded/fundable applied research in the areas of autism spectrum disorders and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
