Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). The Department of Psychiatry invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track Open Rank position. We invite applications from those with a Ph.D. in sociology, psychology, social work or public health or a M.D. with a research background. The successful candidate will be an established or promising researcher of issues relevant to the lives of people with serious and persistent mental illnesses (i.e., stigma, services, quality of life, criminal justice involvement) in order to complement the ongoing work in the department of psychiatry. The individual will become an active participant in NEOMED’s Community-based Research Focus Area which includes researchers at nearby Kent State University (KSU). There are potential opportunities for adjunct faculty status in related doctoral programs at KSU. The ideal candidate will be experienced in seeking and receiving external funding to support her/his work and will appreciate working in a multidisciplinary and collaborative setting.

Education: A doctorate in sociology, psychology, public health, criminology, or related discipline or M.D. from an accredited institution.
At least two years' experience in community mental health or mental health services research beyond the Ph.D. and/or M.D. including a track record of publication and presentations, evidence of successful grantsmanship (or history of grant writing preferred: and a demonstrated potential for interdisciplinary and collaborative research
Current extramural research funding or strong evidence of potential for future success in extramural funding
Potential to maintain an active research program in an area complementary to the existing research strengths of the department (i.e. jail diversion for people with mental illness; health and well-being; mental health services)
Evidence of excellent teaching
