UT Health San Antonio, Department of Pediatrics, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine is seeking a full-time board eligible/board certified Pediatric Palliative Care physician with experience in caring for seriously ill children - including children with life-limiting, life-threatening, and complex chronic medical conditions - and their families. The successful candidate will join a growing interdisciplinary Palliative Care Team that has Advanced Certification in Palliative Care by The Joint Commission. The comprehensive team serves both adult and pediatric patients and is the primary teaching service for a large palliative care fellowship training program that offers a pediatric tract. The Pediatric Team provides inpatient consultative service with an average daily census of 20 patients and serves as the medical home for over 450 children with complex chronic conditions and acute end of life issues. Patients are also managed in an affiliated Pediatric Hospice program. The Pediatric Team sees patients from perinatal to young adult-hood with the ability to transition to adult palliative care services. Patients on service have a diverse variety of medical diagnoses. The recruited provider will provide direct patient care with additional responsibilities to include teaching palliative care fellows, pediatric residents and medical students and contributing to the educational, research and service missions of the Division, Department and Institution. Scholarly activity is highly encouraged; program development, quality improvement and research opportunities are available. The position is at the Assistant or Associate Professor level (clinical track). All faculty appointments are designated as security sensitive positions.
