Under general direction from the Director of the Clinical Mass Spectrometry and Toxicology Lab, and with latitude for independent judgment, is responsible for assay development to support the implementation of the laboratory developed tests and clinical diagnostics needs.
Provide support in the transfer of current assays to new instruments/platforms when replacing and creating redundancy of instruments.
Assist in the development and verification of assays on different instruments for sufficient backup.
Perform assay pre-validation and provide resources for assay validation process.
Provide recommendations for the improvement of current assays to increase accuracy, reliability, efficiency and workflow.
Aid in the evaluation and the installation of new instruments and platforms.
Contribute to evaluation, research, and development of new assays.
Remain current on new methodologies and best practices.
Provides insights into advanced troubleshooting as requested.
Consistently maintain high quality documentation of his/her work.
Summarize and present data, results and technical reports.
Support in the preparation of scientific and clinical presentations and publications.
Facilitate the development of training protocols for the technical staff.
Serve as an educational resource to improve and hone technical and troubleshooting skills.
Other job duties as defined to support the laboratory activities and missions.
PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, physics or a related discipline with 5-year experience, or MS degree or a BS degree with 10 years of relevant work experience.
Experience in HPLC, Tandem Mass Spectrometer operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting are essential.
Individuals with previous experience working in a clinical diagnostic or GLP environment are preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, EXCEL, and PowerPoint et al.
Familiar with basic data analysis and statistics
