Department of Health Systems Science, Open Rank Faculty Positions
Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine
The Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine invites applications for full-time faculty positions at the Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor levels in the Department of Health Systems Science. We are seeking individuals interested in shaping the development of a highly innovative world-class medical school. Faculty members will work as a part of a dynamic team of professionals supporting all aspects of the School of Medicine, including the creation of its educational curriculum and research enterprise as well as its infrastructure and processes.
The Department of Health Systems Science has two missions: 1) to give medical students a foundation in patient safety, quality, value, social determinants of health, community and population health, and health policy that will help them become transformational change agents in their professions; and 2) to pursue a broad health research agenda that will increase health and health equity through systems innovation, redefinition, and redesign.
Faculty members will be responsible for a mix of pedagogical and scholarly activities. Faculty members will collaborate across the foundational science, clinical science, and health systems science departments to integrate and reinforce concepts throughout the four-year curriculum; provide content expertise for specific educational and assessment materials delivered through a variety of student-centered pedagogies; and serve as facilitators in small-group and team-based learning. Faculty members will also engage in scholarly activities in both clinical and community settings, including health services and health-related social sciences research; improvement and implementation research; health-related program and policy development and evaluation; and educational scholarship. Pedagogical vs. scholarly duties and expectations will be individually developed based on evolving faculty interests and skills as well as departmental priorities and needs. Guaranteed institutional support for pedagogical and scholarly effort may be available.
