The Department of Early Childhood Studies in the College of Education and Integrative Studies at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Associate Professor to begin by August 2019. We seek an individual with expertise in Early Childhood Studies (Birth-8) and experience with a diverse population of students and a doctorate degree in Early Childhood Studies, Child Development, or related field, as well as a strong commitment to social justice and equity within early childhood education.

The Position: Primary duties are to: 1) teach in the Early Childhood Studies in a 4/4 teaching load (3/3 for the first two years). Please check the department website for more information on the courses offered: https://www.cpp.edu/~ceis/early-childhood-studies/index.shtml; 2) engage in scholarly activities that could include our students and includes research and publication, fellowship and grant programs, and presentations at professional conferences; 3) advise undergraduate students interested in careers related to Early Childhood Studies; 4) participate in the broader Child Development and Early Childhood Education community, especially within the local area; 5) participate in committee work, community service related to ones academic expertise, and University governance. Applicants whose work incorporates a global perspective on early childhood education and a commitment to preparing students who are committed to preparing students to work effectively in a diverse society and a multigenerational perspective are encouraged to apply. Salary and appointment at the untenured Associate Professor level will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Earned doctorate in Early Childhood Studies, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Developmental Psychology, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution in the US or from a non-US institution with equivalent accreditation by time of appointment
Evidence of a teaching record towards excellence for this appointment;
Evidence of professional and scholarly work that aligns with the Colleges commitment to social justice and developmentally appropriate early childhood pedagogy;
Evidence of a beginning professional and scholarly track record;
Evidence of practical experience or related work in early childhood (Birth-8 years);
Evidence of commitment to active involvement with the Early Childhood community.
Demonstration of ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, creative and scholarly activities, teaching, advising, and service, while working in an inclusive environment.
Scholarly engagement with topics in early childhood education and/or child development;
Scholarly and/or professional engagement in Early Childhood on Special Education and/or Dual Language;
Active participation in Early Childhood/Child Development professional associations or networks related to area of expertise;
Demonstrated commitment to active, student-centered learning;
Experience working with the national early childhood standards and accreditation and willingness to learn California Early Childhood System;
Experience and willingness to develop and teach in an online modality;
Experience teaching at the college or university level.
