The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in Mount Sinai Hospital, is seeking a faculty member at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor Level with diagnostic and academic interests in Clinical Biochemistry. The anticipated start date is July 3, 2019 or a mutually agreed upon date.
We are seeking an individual who values working in a collegial environment at an institution with superb clinical material, state-of-the-art technologies, and the ability to form collaborations with clinical colleagues. The successful candidate will join an internationally renowned program in many aspects of Clinical Biochemistry and an academic faculty with diverse diagnostic expertise, teaching responsibilities and research activities.
The candidate should hold a PhD degree and be certified (or eligible for certification) in clinical chemistry by the Canadian Academy of Clinical Biochemistry (CACB) and/or the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC). The applicant will have training in clinical biochemistry, special chemistry, point of care testing and leading edge methodologies in biochemical diagnostics. Knowledge of big data analysis or computer programming will be an asset. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual, able to work in team settings, with excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, and a strong interest in academic activities.
Clinical laboratory functions will include oversight of analytical and quality aspects of laboratory analysis, interpretation of results, consultation with physicians, and teaching staff, and learners at all levels of training and participation in activities related to lab test utilization.
Extensive opportunities for academic activities exist within the clinical programs and the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital. The successful applicant will also be expected to participate in postgraduate teaching in the Postdoctoral Training Program in Clinical Biochemistry at the University of Toronto, teaching within the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology and in continuing medical education activities.
The successful candidate should be qualified to be appointed to the Medical and Scientific Staff of Mount Sinai Hospital and should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary is in accordance with qualifications. Benefits will be provided.
