This position performs difficult, complex, and technical paraprofessional engineering duties, or directs a large number of engineering technicians or drafting technicians engaged in various technical engineering duties. Individual assignments determine the knowledge, skills and abilities required for each option. Work is performed under the supervision of a professional engineer, registered architect, or other supervisor who reviews work on the basis of results obtained and for compliance with standards and schedules. Currently there is one vacancy in the Bridge and Dam Safety Section of the Street Transportation Department. This position supervises the review and reporting of permit applications, and bridge and dam program database management. Duties include performing bridge and dam safety inspections; supervising multiple contractors performing bridge rehabilitation and dam restoration; coordinating and making recommendations for bridge repairs; and ensuring bridge inspections are compliance with regulatory agencies. This eligible list may be used by any department for any current or future vacancies over the life of the eligible list. SALARY $54,392 - $81,245 annually. Candidates may be hired above the minimum depending upon qualifications. Six years of experience in paraprofessional engineering work, including three years of paraprofessional civil engineering experience (or one year of experience at the level of Chief Construction Inspector, Chief Engineering Technician, or Chief Drafting Technician). -
An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered. -
Working irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required. -
Working at heights greater than ten feet, climbing ladders and being exposed to noise, dust, heat, cold, vibration, traffic and other outside working conditions may be required. -
Moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds may be required. -

Experience maintaining and exercising emergency action plans (EAP) -
Completion of a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) bridge inspection training course -

Supervisory experience -
Fundamentals of Engineering test passing -
Professional Engineer license -
Familiarity with SQL databases -
