The Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems in the College of Education at Florida State University is seeking a tenure earning faculty position in the newly reopened M.S. and Ed.S. School Counseling Program. The department offers CACREP approved programs in Mental Health Counseling and Career Counseling, as well as programs in school psychology and counseling psychology. Responsibilities: The candidate will be expected to serve on graduate student committees and supervise student research, to teach courses in the counselor-education program, and to provide service to the program, department, college, and university. Supervision of students in clinical practicum settings is also expected. The candidate will be responsible for developing a program of research and scholarly activity in the realm of school counseling.
Qualifications: Candidates for this position must hold a doctoral degree in Counselor Education and meet CACREP core faculty eligibility requirements. Preferred qualifications include experience working as a school counselor, teaching in a graduate counselor-education program, and providing supervision to school-counseling students. The successful candidate will demonstrate an aptitude for and commitment to conducting research, and an interest in seeking external funding for research activities. Candidates should be committed to teaching and mentoring graduate students, and to being fundamentally involved in the Counselor-Education Program. We seek a candidate who will contribute to strengthening program quality, increasing student recruitment, and assuring continued accreditation. The successful candidate will also present evidence of quality teaching of core school-counseling courses, of engagement with school-counseling professional associations at the state or national level, and a commitment to maintaining a counselor identity.
This is a nine-month, tenure earning position at the assistant professor rank, with possible summer employment. The anticipated start date for this position is 8/2019.
