The Director of Quality & Operational Excellence is responsible for driving a strong Quality culture in which Quality is a competitive advantage through efficient/effective actions resulting in a holistic customer focused team that thrives on the success of the customer and keeps Hammer Packaging as the leader in Quality in the industry.
The Director of Quality & Operational Excellence regularly supports Continual Improvement Team (CIT) initiatives and interacts with Customers to provide information, investigation and reports on Hammers manufacturing processes.
Lead customer quality-focused improvement programs. Positively differentiate the company’s current products and procedures by implementing new/enhanced quality practices throughout the company that result in customer satisfaction
Initiates and implements quality improvement activities as appropriate (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to raise the performance of the company’s product lines.
Educates and trains employees as to their impact in the quality management system.
Serves as the primary quality control resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
Analyze failure, corrective and preventive action to respond to internal and customer complaints
Perform root-cause analysis and other problem solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements. Use problem solving tools such as Fishbone diagram, 5 whys, KnoWonder, etc.
Manages quality assurance personnel on a day-to-day basis.
Establishes quality and reliability standards by studying product and customer requirements with other members of management, production operators, technicians, and engineers.
Establishes and implements metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring system effectiveness and to enable managers to make sound product quality decisions.
Establishes collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality
Develops process certification standards and assist in process certification.
Monitors vendor performance and establish criteria and rating system for critical vendors.
Interacts with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel.
Oversees calibration and testing programs.
Reports to management on quality issues, trends and losses.
Participates in internal and external quality audits.
Interfaces with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.
Establishes in-process product inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods; devising testing methods and procedures.
Establishes rework standards by devising inspection and physical testing methods and procedures.
Manages QMS system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
Manages all Quality programs including but not limited to HACCP, SQF, Internal Feedback, Internal/External Quality Feedback Records.
Maintain product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures
Prepares product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
