Florida International University, Communication Sciences & Disorders Department in the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences, invites applications for a full-time, nine-month tenure-earning position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to begin August 2019. The faculty member will be an integral part of the Master of Science program in Communication Sciences and Disorders and the pending interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Sciences Ph.D. on the FIU campus. The faculty member will be responsible for teaching didactic courses at the MS level, PhD level, and in the post-baccalaureate prerequisite certificate program, as well as maintain an active programmatic line of research. Candidates with expertise in adult communication disorders, speech science, and bilingualism will receive preferential consideration. Other areas may include one or more of the following: cranio-facial disorders, dysphagia, or voice disorders.
Minimum qualifications include an earned research doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a related discipline.
The unique focus of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is one of cultural and linguistic diversity (CLD) and bilingualism. The goal of the Department is to educate CLD professionals to meet the needs of multicultural individuals with communication disorders. Applications from underrepresented minorities are encouraged. The Master of Science degree program in speech-language pathology is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
The mission of the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences is to teach, conduct research, and serve the community. NWCNHS prepares diverse healthcare professionals as providers and leaders in the delivery of high quality, accessible, and culturally competent care within a highly technological and global environment. The College also promotes, expands and validates scientific knowledge and evidence-based practice through interdisciplinary research.
